The Process

Introduction

For this first workshop, we'd like for you to get to know your group and start discussing some of the content you have already watched, and start preparing for your first draft.

To guide you through the process, please follow along some of these guiding questions and discussion points.

Ice-Breaking Worksheet: Sharing the PhD Journey

  1. Introduction: Share down your name, research area, and a fun fact about yourself.

  2. Research Topic Exploration:

    • Briefly describe your research topic.

    • What inspired you to choose this topic?

    • Share one fascinating finding or aspect of your research so far.

  3. PhD Life Reflections:

    • How have you addressed or plan to address the challenge mentioned?

  4. Writing Scientific/Scholarly Articles:

    • For each challenge, write down at least one strategy you've used or plan to use to overcome it.

  5. Best Practices for Self-Regulated Learning:

    • Reflect on your learning and writing process. What strategies do you use to set goals, monitor your progress, and adapt your learning strategies?

    • Share one tip or best practice that has significantly helped you in your PhD studies, particularly in writing scientific articles.

  6. Group Discussion:

    • Discuss the strategies and best practices shared by your peers. Identify common challenges and innovative solutions.

    • As a group, choose one best practice for writing scientific articles that you found most valuable and would like to adopt.

Reflection:

  • After the group discussion, write down one new strategy or insight you've gained from your peers today that you plan to integrate into your research or writing process. Share it in the Discord community channel.

Closing:

  • Share your reflection with the group. This will help build a supportive community where you can continue to share ideas, challenges, and successes throughout the semester.

Note: Remember, this is a safe space for sharing and learning from each other. Respect each other's views and experiences, and be open to new perspectives.
